About
A small stationery shop that sells the file
Bold Wedding is a trading name of Volodymyr Lysyi, a sole trader.
Wedding stationery is usually sold twice: once as a design and once as a print run. This shop only sells the first half. The drawings, the settings and the layouts are made here; the paper, the press and the delivery van are somebody else's business, and keeping them out of the order is what makes a matching set affordable.
The work is organised as 4 collections rather than a wall of single cards. A collection is drawn once and then carried through all 3 kinds of piece, so that the invitation that arrives in January and the menu on the table in August come from the same hand. Buying all three is a choice, not a requirement: each piece is sold on its own and works on its own.
Printing is not included in any order here and no printed goods are supplied. What you buy is the file. You take the exported PDF to whichever printer you like, at home or on the high street, and pay them separately for the paper and the printing.
Everything is built in Canva because it runs in a browser and because its free plan is enough for everything in this shop. That means a couple who has never opened design software can still change a name, move a line and export a file a printer will accept.
The shop is run by one person. There is no studio, no account manager and no queue system: messages come to one address and are answered within two working days.
How a collection is drawn
The same four decisions are made for each of the 4 collections, and then everything in it follows from them.
Olive Garden
Olive sprigs drawn softly, laid along one edge and left to run off it. Names are set in roman capitals with a great deal of margin around them, so the drawing carries the page and the type keeps out of its way.
Modern Type
No ornament at all. The type does the work: one grotesque, three sizes, a single hairline rule and a lot of paper left empty. Built for couples who want the wording to be the design.
Coastal Blue
A soft wash that sits low on the page like a tideline, with the type set above it. Two blues and an off-white, and a deckle edge along the foot of each piece.
Meadow Bloom
Small flowers scattered rather than arranged, thickest at one corner and thinning across the page. The type is set in the clear part, and the scatter is different on every piece so a table never looks printed twice.
What you do with a template once it arrives
Open the link in the order email. Canva makes a copy of the template in your own account and leaves the original alone, so you can start again at any point.
Type over the wording: names, dates, times, the address of the venue, the reply-by date, the table names and anything else that is yours.
Move or resize the text boxes if your wording runs long. The drawings and washes are on their own layer and stay where they are unless you move them.
Export with Canva’s Share menu, choosing PDF Print with crop marks and bleed. That is the file your printer wants.
Every photograph, drawing, shape and typeface used in these templates is on Canva’s free plan, so nothing in them asks you to upgrade. Canva also sells a paid plan and a per-element charge for its premium library; neither is needed for anything in this shop, and if you add a premium element of your own while editing, that charge is between you and Canva.
